Supply-side reforms have helped strengthen the industry further this year

Aluminum Corp of China, the country's largest nonferrous metals company, announced its best half-year performance in nine years, riding a surge in commodity prices.

Also known as Chinalco, the company said in its interim report for 2017, which was released late on Thursday, that first-half revenue reached 91.31 billion yuan ($13.68 billion), up 83 percent year-on-year, which yielded a profit of 751 million yuan, up 1,006 percent year-on-year.

A surge in sales volume as well as prices, particularly of its main products, boosted the first-half revenue and profit, Chinalco said.

Aluminum prices have been on a rebound since last year, and continued to be strong in the first half of this year.

For instance, the average aluminum price on the Shanghai Futures Exchange was 16670 yuan per metric ton in the first half, up almost 45 percent year-on-year.

"Since April last year, the aluminum sector has been making profits," said Li Lin, an analyst at Sublime China Information Group in Zibo, Shandong province, adding that the average profit reached last year's highest level of 2,000 yuan per ton in October.

In April, regulators such as the National Development and Reform Commission, the country's top economic planner, announced that illegal projects, which increased overall industry capacity since May 2013, would be asked to close down.

Within six months, the electrolytic aluminum sector saw such projects eliminated, which kicked off the capacity cutbacks.

Shandong, the largest aluminum producing province in China, said on July 24 it would close projects that used to produce 3.21 million tons of the metal, following similar measures by several other provinces.

In 2014, Chinalco reported a deficit of 16.2 billion yuan, losing the most among the listed companies in A-share market.

However, in 2015, the company began to make profits. It made 206 million yuan in 2015. In the fourth quarter of last year alone, Chinalco realized an operating profit for the first time in five years.

The latest interim report confirms that Chinalco has made a profit in three consecutive quarters.

The Seventh Round Strict Air Pollution Inspection Completed

The seventh round of the yearlong strict inspection on air pollution had been completed by Jul.20th.Between Jul.7 and Jul.20,the inspection teams checked a total 5,322 business (organizations),and found environmental incompliances in 1,389 of them.Of the incompliant enterprises,347 were unlicensed small polluters,two did not attain emission standards,252 failed to install pollution control facilities,160 failed to keep such facilities in normal operations,536 had VOCs control problems,and four had other problems.

The inspection results showed VOCs control was the primary pollution problem,which accounted for 38.6 percent of the total problems revealed by this round of inspection.Tangshan Municapality is the home to 54 VOCs emitters,the largest number in the 28 target cities.From the industrial perspective,the rubber and plastics manufacturing,machinery manufacturing,coating and spraying,plywood,packaging and printing industries contributed the largest share of VOCs emission.

There were 347 unlicensed small polluters which violated the environmental legislations,accounting for 25.0 percent of the total incompliant enterprises.The fugitive emission was serious.

Starting Jul.21,the inspection team launched the eighth round strict inspection over the air pollution in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and surrounding areas.

On the sidelines of the eighth strict inspection,the ministry is about to initiate six rounds thematic inspection in Hebei and Henan on their performance in the implementation of the detailed plans for implementing the action plan against air pollution.The thematic inspection,which will last for 84 days,the targets at tight cities in Hebei and seven cities in Henan,with each city under the scrutiny of an inspection team.

The Ministry required that the inspection teams touring Hebei and Henan provinces strengthen the inspection and urge the local governments and relevant departments at all levels to take the responsibilities for air pollution control and make sure the tasks specified in the local plans for fighting air pollution to be completed before deadlines.

Galvalume Steel Corrugated Sheet

Production Introduction

Galvalume steel is the plateing coat of aluminum-zinc alloy armor plate,and its composition is 55% Al,43.3% Zn and 1.6% Si.The plate with smooth surface and excellent corrosion resistance of the atmosphere,which is 2 to 6 times higher than hot-dip galvanized sheet of the same thickness of coating.After through three processes,including payoff reel,crop shear and welding,enter into the continuous annealing furnace.During the annealing process,strips are heated closer to the recrystallizing temperature,and then heated to 20~50 above the recrystallizing temperature in the reducing furnace.After keeping the same temperature for 170s,strips are naturally cooled to the normal temperature in the slow cooling process.Afterward,strips enter into the ZN-AL pot through the elephant's trunk and begin in the hot-dip coating process.The optimum temperature range of the plating coat is 630-660℃.Coated with aluminum-zinc alloy,strips enter into the cooling tower by the steady roll and air knife.After fast cooled with wind or water,they are directly produced into Al-Zn armor plates.The general rate of cooling 30/s or so,and strips are cooled to about 60.
